Regarding The Recent Protests
The UvA Film Club stands in solidarity with our fellow students and staff who have been bravely speaking up against the university's complicity in the genocide in Gaza. We echo their demands for the UvA to disclose their ties with, divest from and boycott Israeli institutions, as well as to drop charges against students who have been arrested from the protests and are facing legal consequences.
We unequivocally condemn the unprecedented levels of police violence that the CvB has authorised on the peaceful demonstrators. This violates the very tenets of trust and peace that the board themselves preach when it comes to having "open dialogues" on campus.
In an effort to emphasise that university activities should not continue as "business as usual" after the events of the past week, this week's screening on May 15th is *cancelled*. We encourage everyone to stand in solidarity with the protests and make your voice heard. Stay safe and take care of each other!
